Leaders' Academy
Leaders Academy is the leadership training initiative of SAFI to foster role model leaders to herald the generation ahead. The mission of the Leaders’ Academy is to identify students with innate talent in leading skills and organize special training programmes. SAFI Leaders academy focuses on fine-tuning the selected members from the undergraduate students into visionary leaders through signature mentoring system.
A batch of 30 students will be selected from each year based on written test and Interview:-i)Written Test-The test for the applicants will be based on multiple intelligence and general knowledge; ii)Interview - The members of the Executive Committee of Leaders Academy will conduct a face to face interview for those qualified in the written test to gauge their Learning capabilities, Intelligence, Leadership traits, Ethical and moral values, Commitment to SAFI’s mission and Socio-political awareness and publish the list of selected students.
Members of Leaders academy are divided into different groups (LDG) based on their career interest. A teaching staff member from Executive Committee will be appointed as a mentor for each group. Two types of approaches are adopted for students’ training-Leadership Development Group (LDG), the platform for the members for self-training and Workshops and Training sessions handled by experts.
Mentoring is the characteristic feature of Leaders’ Academy. The faculty as mentors, will be assigned mentees under them on 1: 10 ratio towards building up focused and long lasting relationship through candid communication, motivational assistance and diligent guidance in the process of influential leadership development. Role models themselves, the mentors facilitate the mentees in transforming into good human beings. The academic, emotional and motivational guidance of the mentor enhances the personality development of the members.The mentoring continues after the graduation as well.
LDG is a crucial element of this leadership development programme.The purpose of LDG is to provide an excellent platform for the members of the academy to develop key leadership skills such as communication, organizational skills, motivational skills and group leading skills. LDG assists the members to build self-awareness by understanding their strengths and weaknesses to create their own personal leadership development plan. The activities of the LDGs comprise higher education and career oriented learning sessions.
Workshops and Seminars are based on the Training programme modules on Leadership Dynamics, Career guidance and counselling, Essential skills for a leader, Theatre for awareness and personal growth, Unlearning and Strategic planning. The mentees are given a foundation course training which comprises sessions on Indian Constitution, Human rights, Environmental Studies and Major Global challenges
Meet the Leader is an eventful interaction of the members with renowned leaders of the time. Interviews and meetings with contemporary leaders, academicians and other influential personalities who share their life experiences instil in them valuable insights about leadership. The biographic analyses and leadership strategies of the great leaders of the past and present are assigned as presentation topics for the members during the mentoring period.
Heritage visits and travels to places of historic importance in India are arranged for the members towards completion of training on Essential Skills. The journeys include visits to top universities and educational institutions as well as to ecologically vulnerable sites and help enhance the members to assess the social and political realities of the country.
Convocation marks the technical end of the eventful effective and exuberant three year course. The members exhibit their talents and achievements on the Performance day. Through Alumni Orchestration, the mentors track the profile of the members in their evolution into visionary leaders.
